buy custom Forms of Writing essay
buy custom Forms of Writing essay An individual requires the shoe-tying skills in order to tie shoes (Breaux, 2005). Technical writing requires the use of numbering (Gerson Gerson, 2003). Hold one end of the shoestring in each hand. Cross the ends, making an X. Pass one end of the shoestring under the other and pull tight. Fold one shoestring in half while holding the strings tight. Twine the other end around the folded end. Grasp the lace in the middle and bend it into a flat loop and pull, making a bow. Beautiful Residential Places Some residential places in the United States are very beautiful. They contain flower gardens, which have a variety of flowers that provide a olorful scenery and sweet fragrance (Bunting Hewitt, 2008). Because such residential places are far from industrial areas, common sounds involve cool music. The roads are very smooth, such that an individual feels comfortable while in a fast moving car. Most restaurants and pubs around the residential places in WisconsinState provide cool and sweet refreshment drink (Messervy Abell, 2007). Technical and Expository Writings Explaining the shoe-tying procedure to an individual is an example of technical writings while describing the beauty of a residential place is an example of expository writings. Expository writings persuade individuals to agree with certain opinions while technical writings focus on explaining procedures and concepts to audience (Hutchinson, 2005). Expositorry writing should be exciting while technical writing should be serious. The structure of technical writing includes numbering while expository writing requires the use of paragraphs (Gerson Gerson, 2003). Technical writing and other forms of writing Technical writing is a unique form of writing because it requires the use of numbering in listing the steps of executing a task (Gerson Gerson, 2003). Therefore, technical writing is different from other forms of writing usually in terms of format and purpose. Expository writing is more persuasive than technical writing (Hutchinson, 2005). Technical writing is the most common in the corporate environment because there is a need to explain various concepts to the members. Buy custom Forms of Writing essay

Personal Environmental History Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 2
Personal Environmental History - Essay Example The first memories I have of being taught about the environment revolve around maintenance of the space around me as a very young child. I was taught not about the huge implications of maintaining our ecology, but of the importance of simply respecting the immediate vicinity of where I lived. The major form this took when I was a small child was educating me about how wrong it is to litter. My mother always informed me that littering was bad for the environment, a message mirrored on the media frequently. When I was a child the television show ââ¬Å"Captain Planetâ⬠drove this message about litter home even more, showing images of fish trapped in the webbings that hold pop cans together into six packs, and informing me how important it was for me to clip them and dispose of them safely. The media also told me to go out of my way to recycle, to pick up cans on the side of the road and take them to a processing facility, and to treat my space right. While this was a good groundin g for environmental thought, it was obviously very small scale and I think even at a young age I could have begun to understand the serious challenges facing the environment. As I grew older, the media began taking a larger role in my education on the environment. Some of the things from my late childhood that always struck home was infomercials about animals that were facing extinction because of habitat reduction and other human behaviors. I also knew about global warming and climate change, but the immediate threat to those cute and fuzzy creatures I saw on the television always seemed more important, more pressing than some general idea that the oceans may rise a few inches in my lifetime. Furthermore, these media campaigns usually asked the viewer to give money to save the wildlife they were campaigning for. This gave me the impression as a child that the problems of the environment were created by bad people burning rainforests and cutting down trees,

Bussiness Ethics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2250 words
Bussiness Ethics - Essay Example Although, some manufacturers made deliveries to IKEA, mostly at night to avoid being seen, IKEA thought of other strategic options to counter this problem, and one among them is outsourcing. This made IKEA to go scouting abroad for manufacturers and Kamprad entered into contracts with number of factories in Poland, thus ââ¬Ëseedingââ¬â¢ more outsourcing. It was this early decision of Kamprad to seek least expensive alternatives to domestic manufacturing of the products turned out to be a more profitable avenue for IKEA to take. As, this outsourcing strategy reduced the costs of production, it is able to offer affordable or cheap prices to the customer, thereby bringing in more customers. ââ¬Å"IKEA currently works with 1,300 suppliers in 53 countries, but Kamprad made the pioneering decision to source furniture from communist Poland as early as 1961. Since manufacturing costs were 50% lower in Poland than in Sweden, his decision looks brilliant in hindsight.â⬠(Barthelemy 2006). Importantly, IKEA continued as well as extended its outsourcing strategy to other countries particularly 1980ââ¬â¢s and 90ââ¬â¢s, particularly to Asian countries like India, Ch ina, Pakistan, Philippines, etc, where they can access cheap labour. Although, outsourcing to these countries gave IKEA a cost-effective option, it also led to the rise of ethical issues and controversies, both from the economic as well as political perspectives, thereby making or even forcing IKEA to come up with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) based activities. IKEA outsourced to the Asian countries many of its manufacturing processes including making of carpet, rugs, wicker baskets, etc. That is, in starting from 1970s and more prominently from 1990ââ¬â¢s, they found many local manufacturers cum suppliers, who would manufacture the products and supply to them with IKEA label. This turned out to be a productive and profitable option, as IKEA was able to get good productivity for cheaper prices, when compared to the

Global Warming Essay Example for Free
Global Warming Essay Picture in your mind a world in which the temperature is at least ten degrees higher than it is today, where theyââ¬â¢re supposed to be snow you can see a green valley and all the major cities are covered by water. This imaginary picture is not too far from the truth. This essay will discuss the effects of global warming as a life threatening condition causing extreme heat waves, glacier retreat and sea level rises. The first effect of global warming is the dramatic increase of temperature all over the globe. The actual readings show a global warming of around 0.6 degrees Celsius over the entire 20th century. Furthermore, any micro change in the temperature can generate severe weather conditions like rain and tornados also, some areas may experiment extreme heat waves that could derivate in death by dehydratation. Other contributors for the changes in temperature are the greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases are naturally generated by solid waste in the form of methane gas. The human generated ones that comes from automobile exhausts and heaters from homes including factories wastes. Although, greenhouse gases are mainly natural the real problem resides in the excess of this gases overheating the planet. With the change in temperature previously indicated, there is a second effect of global warming, glacier retreat. Places traditionally known by snow or cold weathers now report less amounts of snow and a rise in temperature for example, in the Chimborazo volcano, Ecuador, the snow of the glacier is retreating at a rate of 0.5 meters each year also Antarctica reported to have the warmest year in all history. Remember that most of the water for human consumption comes from the glaciers, when they melt over controlled conditions the water resulted from the melting goes to rivers. Moreover, if the melting continues and the glacier disappears there is a good chance that there will be no more water to drink. Continuing with the effects of global warming and as a result of the previous two appears the rise of the sea levels. At this moment the sea levels increase in a ratio of 1.8mm to 2.4mm per year and the predictions indicate that this ratio is increasing rapidly to 3.8mm per year. If the tendency continues most of the major cities located near the coast are on the risk of disappearing by the water. The two factors that lead to the increased levels in sea are, the first thermal expansion: as oceans water warms it expands and second each year enormous blocks of ice, talking about in some cases of kilometers of ice, from the poles melt into the sea as a result of the increased temperatures provoking the rise in water levels. In conclusion, global warming effects are related in a chain reaction. So, because of the extreme temperature changes people could die and, the glaciers and poles experiment an enormous reduction. Also, because of the first two effects the level of the oceans begins to rise. The future or our civilization depends on how these effects are addressed, because of what it is important to reduce the consumption of gas or oil for heating houses, keep our vehicles in good conditions to reduce greenhouse gases, better if the bicycle is used instead of the car. I hope our nations and citizens make conscience about this threat to our lives and begin to work together in solutions to the problem.

Sleepy Hollow Film Review Essay -- essays research papers
ââ¬ËSleepy Hollowââ¬â¢ film Review Blood and murder usually go down a treat for the people who love gore but this is not the case in the movie ââ¬ËSleepy Hollowââ¬â¢. Repetition is the key to an ultimately predictable film. Just as in any other film we see a substance with a resemblance to blood fall onto a piece of paper. This tells our minds the movie will have elements of horror. Then two hands, male and female, clasp. A headless horseman then appears decapitating an innocent man on the run in the woods. This all sets the rest of the film as a romantic horror. There is still one element that is left to be seen but not to worry. While the ghoulish headless horseman is out decapitation people Ichabod Crane, a detective from New York, is having a hard time keeping a straight face. The expression of utter disgust as he finds a body in the river is comical enough as it stands. Now as he is sent to Sleepy Hollow (a near by village where the headless horseman lies) to try and get his head around the gruesome decapit ations of the people. His fear of bugs makes him an easy target and often means this film becomes comedy Johnny Depp is the actor who plays Ichabod Crane, the New York detective. When he arrives in the little village Sleepy Hollow he meets the beautiful Katrina Van Tassel. Played by Christina Ricci, Katrina is a local teenager who is starting to really like Ichabod. She wants to protect him; I guess every film needs a beauty. But whereââ¬â¢s the beast? Most films nowadays consist of a beast that whenever they show their face on screen frightens the socks off the audience. This is not the case in the film ââ¬ËSleepy Hollowââ¬â¢ seeing as Christopher Walkerââ¬â¢s (the actor who plays the headless horseman) head is never shown on screen. Although this film consists mainly of tacky fog and bad graphics, the acting is not to blame. Maybe the fact that the main characters were played by American actors but yet tried to speak with English accents made the film seem very cheap. If you are going to hire American actors to play the main parts donââ¬â¢t try and pass them off as Engl ish actors. Some people might think that by making the entire movie dull, dark, and devoid of colour makes the blood stand out much more. This is true but are you really motivated to watch a movie which starts of in black and white? This movie was aimed at younger people but younger people change the channel when... ...appeared we saw the same murky fog swirl around the screen. Tim Burton turned the short story by Washington Irving from a descriptive bed time story into a fake. To me this movie was pure comedy. Although it was meant to be horror it was comical to count how many times the horseman appeared. Every time he appeared it was the same fog and sounds as the headless horseman took out his sword to kill another victim. The movie seemed to rely on the fact that Johnny Depp is gorgeous. Tim Burton has directed most of my favorite movies. Most of them did not have gorgeous actors in them but they all had a good plot. This movie did not have a good plot. It had things in it that were completely irrelevant to the rest of the film. I did not feel for the characters, the main reason being they were in black and white. This made them seem cold and emotionless. The main character in the film, Ichabod Crane was very squeamish. If this movie was aimed to be semi-serious why have a main character in it who faints at the sight of blood. In my opinion this movie had poor graphics and was very predictable. I did not enjoy it at all and if you know what is good for you you wonââ¬â¢t bother to see it either.

Brand Hierarchy
Smart Principles for Designing a Brand Hierarchy We all know the recession has drastically impacted consumer behaviors, but we may often overlook its direct impact on brands themselves. The recession has changed the way marketers manage their brand portfolios as they try to do more with less. As such, marketers are taking a closer look at how then can stretch existing brand equity across a greater number of products, often taking a parent brand/sub-brand approach. We generally see four different sub-brand approaches, each with their own benefits and risks: 1.Driver Sub-Brandsââ¬âA driver sub-brand encourages purchase decisions by representing the value proposition central to the user experience. The parent brand endorses the sub-brandââ¬âbut itââ¬â¢s the sub-brand that defines the consumerââ¬â¢s perceptions of the product or service experience and proves the primary driver motivating consumer purchase. Take the Gillette Fusion razor. Customers primarily buy the technolo gy and performance represented by the Fusion name. Fusion is the driver brand while Gillette creates a strong identity and clear visibility for the Fusion name on the package, retail rack, and in consumersââ¬â¢ minds. As you might guess, if a company is going to take a driver sub-branding approach, then the sub-brand must generate real response to its entrance in the marketplace to succeed. 2. Co-Driver Sub-Brandsââ¬âIn this case both the parent brand and the sub-brand play majorââ¬âand often equalââ¬âroles in driving the consumer toward purchase. Cadillacââ¬â¢s Escalade sub-brand serves as a co-driver, as both the Cadillac and Escalade brand names influence consumersââ¬â¢ purchase decisions. While consumers associate the Cadillac name with top of the line performance, quality, and style, the Escalade brand compounds that image with the slightly rugged, more versatile associations of a sports utility vehicle. Cadillac marketers leverage the associations of both dr iver brands to command market share in the luxury sports utility vehicle category, as well as generating significant demand for the car among Hollywood celebrities attracted to the brandââ¬â¢s image of luxury, spaciousness, and high performance versatility. In co-driver situations, both the parent brandââ¬â¢s image and the sub-brandââ¬â¢s image together influence the consumerââ¬â¢s decision to purchase the product. 3. Descriptor Sub-Brandsââ¬âAs implied by the name, descriptor brands communicate a distinct facet of the parent brandââ¬âe. g. , class, feature, target segment, or function. For example, Purina Dog Food maintains the following descriptive brands: Dog Chow, Beneful, Hi-Pro, Fit & Trim, Puppy Chow, Moist & Meaty.Purina Brand Dog Food uses these descriptor sub-brands to more accurately meet the needs of individual dog breeds and the specific demands of dog owners. While all dogs could potentially thrive off of the standard Puppy and Dog Chow offerings, de veloping specialized offerings for overweight, high-energy, and performance dogs defined by a unique descriptor sub-brand enables owners to better address their dogââ¬â¢s perceived needs. This is the riskiest category of sub-brands, as the sub-brand may cannibalize the parent brand if insufficient differentiation among the varieties exists. . Endorsed Sub-Brandsââ¬âIn an endorsed sub-brand relationship, the parent brand often provides support and credibility to the sub-brandââ¬â¢s claims in a more explicit fashion than co-drivers (for example, Rugby by Ralph Lauren). Endorsed sub-brands provide consumers with assurance that the sub-brand will deliver on the same value propositions as the parent offering, enabling the parent brand to expand into new markets while retaining its established brand position.
